“Hair-Enhancing Sweet Salt Texturizing Mist”
I’ve previously shared recipes for my natural hair spray and Beach Waves Sea Salt Spray. I really liked both, but I wondered if I could combine them to create one perfect everyday hair product. It turns out, not only is it possible, but it’s fantastic.
My hair is naturally fine and wavy, but it doesn’t hold style very well. It’s also long and blonde, which means certain hair products can make it look greasy and weighed down. While searching for natural hair products to give my hair a bit more body without the greasiness, I rediscovered my beach waves spray and homemade hair spray.
This new texturizing spray combines the texture from my original sea spray with the hold of my homemade hair spray, creating a long-lasting product. I also included essential oils for a pleasant scent and to help stimulate hair growth. Since I spend a lot of time outdoors in the summer, these oils protect my hair and promote new growth.
This spray is really affordable and easy to make. It works better on my hair than any store-bought product I’ve tried. Even if you splurge on a high-quality glass spray bottle to use for this recipe (which can be reused), and include all optional ingredients, this 8-ounce recipe is still cheaper than a 4-ounce bottle of Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray, one of the few commercial products I’ve liked.
NOTE: Many have asked about the glass spray bottle in my picture. I got it on Zulily, and it’s sometimes in stock but hard to find. I recently found another glass spray bottle that I prefer because it offers both a fine mist and a thicker spray option. Alternatively, you can use an old apple cider vinegar bottle with a spray top.
TIP: For easy styling in the morning, braid dry hair into a French braid (or pigtails) at night and spray with this spray. In the morning, use dry shampoo if needed, then unbraid and respray for all-day waves and texture.
