Craft Your Own Eyelash Growth Serum for Gorgeous Lashes

Big eyes and long eyelashes are often seen as a classic feminine feature, and many women go to great lengths to achieve them. I’ve even made my own natural eyeshadow to enhance mine. However, options like eyelash extensions and growth serums can sometimes cause allergies, infections, or other issues.

But don’t worry, there’s a natural way to boost your lash growth—just a bit of castor oil can do the trick!

While genetics do play a role in eyelash length, that doesn’t mean you can’t do anything about it if you weren’t born with long lashes. I have a cousin with naturally long, dark lashes that resemble extensions. My lashes are fairly long, but not quite as dramatic. So, I’ve been trying out natural methods to make them longer and thicker.

Nutrition seems to impact hair health, meaning a lack of fat-soluble vitamins, B vitamins, vitamin C, and collagen could affect lash growth. Additionally, overusing eye products like long-lasting mascaras or false lashes can weaken them or cause them to fall out.

After sharing my homemade mascara recipe, many people asked if there was a natural way to make something like fiber lash mascara or lash extensions. I haven’t found natural false eyelashes yet since most adhesives have formaldehyde. Many fiber lash products also have ingredients that might be concerning.

What I did find, though, is a natural way to make lashes look as long as false ones using only natural ingredients.

This natural eyelash growth serum includes:

While castor oil alone provides noticeable results with its ability to lengthen and thicken hair, adding emu oil, coconut oil, and vitamin E brings a fuller range of fatty acids and nutrients, speeding up eyelash growth.

TIP: Christa from The Whole Journey suggests adding a drop of lavender essential oil to your mascara for faster eyelash growth. I haven’t tried this myself, but it could be a beneficial addition. (Always do your research and exercise caution with essential oils!)

TIP: You can also apply it to thinning eyebrows! The serum lasts up to a year if stored in an air-tight container. Avoid adding water, aloe, or other liquids that could spoil it.
