There’s nothing quite as soothing as a warm bath, except maybe a detox bath that not only relaxes you but also cleanses your body. If you’re dealing with toxins or skin issues, these natural recipes offer a straightforward, budget-friendly way to improve your health. I’m always ready to soak in a bath, and with these natural additions, you can boost your well-being while unwinding.
Detox baths might also make you feel sleepy, so it’s a good idea to incorporate them into your bedtime routine. You’ve probably heard of Epsom salt baths, which we’ll use as our starting point, but have you tried a clay, vinegar, or even mustard bath? These natural ingredients are easy to find in most kitchens and can enhance circulation and relaxation, all while increasing magnesium levels.
You don’t need much to whip up these detox bath recipes, and they’re gentle enough for kids too. Just be careful with your choice of essential oils. Here’s a basic detox bath idea, with some variations you might like. Feel free to experiment to find your favorite combination.
Simply dissolve Epsom salts in a warm-to-hot bath and add essential oils if you like. When it comes to clay, you’ve got two ways to go about it. This type of bath is fantastic for drawing out toxins since the clay binds with heavy metals, while Epsom salts extract various toxins and replenish magnesium.
During times of illness, this bath can be particularly beneficial as ginger helps clear congestion and ease body aches. It’s also great for allergies or skin irritations. For skin issues, a vinegar bath works wonders, as it balances your skin’s pH. While vinegar’s scent isn’t my favorite, it’s a go-to remedy in our home for sunburn, eczema, dandruff, or dry, itchy skin. Apple cider vinegar has numerous benefits, leaving my skin soft and my hair shiny. After the soak, I rinse off with a cool shower, though some suggest letting the vinegar dry on your skin.
You’re probably wondering if I’ve lost it, but I’m talking about organic mustard powder, not the yellow condiment! Throughout history, this spice has been used to ease colds, the flu, and muscle soreness because it improves circulation. Magnesium and essential oils make this bath both cleansing and fragrant. I have a recipe that combines organic mustard powder, Epsom salts, and a blend of essential oils.
