Crafting Your Own Spray Deodorant

Crafting Your Own Spray Deodorant

I’ve been using my homemade natural deodorant recipe for years, and it’s become one of the most popular ones on my site, with nearly 800 comments. While I still find it super effective, some folks can’t handle the baking soda in it, which can cause an itchy, red rash for some people. If it’s causing discomfort, it’s best not to keep using it.

To tackle this, you can try removing the baking soda and using equal parts of shea butter, coconut oil, and arrowroot powder, along with essential oils for fragrance. However, some people say this mixture isn’t as effective as the one with baking soda.

During a recent trip, I accidentally packed the wrong glass jar and discovered that my magnesium body butter works great as a deodorant. If baking soda irritates you, I’d suggest giving the magnesium body butter a shot.

This mix-up made me think about finding another natural deodorant that’s also convenient to use. Oil-based recipes can stain clothes if you don’t wait for them to dry before dressing. So, I wanted something that dried quickly, didn’t have baking soda, and really worked.

I was also interested in incorporating magnesium, like in the magnesium body butter, but without the thickness. Eventually, I stumbled upon the perfect solution that’s passed the test during a hot southern summer run. It’s just as effective as my original recipes.

The star ingredient? Magnesium Oil! Although it’s called oil, it doesn’t actually contain any real oil but is fantastic for preventing underarm odor, plus it boosts magnesium levels. Add some essential oils, and you have a great-smelling deodorant. You can either make the magnesium oil yourself or buy a pre-made version.

Be aware that some people feel a tingling sensation when they first use magnesium oil, especially if they’re low in magnesium. This usually goes away after a few days.

For even better results, mix 3/4 cup of water with 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar and apply it to your underarms after showering. Let it dry before using the magnesium oil. This helps remove bacteria and makes the deodorant last longer. Remember, stinging might occur right after shaving or if you have low magnesium, but it should lessen in a few days.

Have you ever tried making deodorant? How did it turn out? Feel free to share your experiences!
