Valentine’s Day is all about showing our loved ones how much we care, and it often involves cards and crafts. It’s a perfect opportunity to bring out the craft supplies and let the kids enjoy creating art projects. Here are some simple and fun Valentine’s Day crafts for your little ones to make and share!
We all remember the candy hearts and paper cards we used to swap as kids. In our family, we try to cut down on processed sugar, and paper crafts can start to clutter up the house quickly. We usually have pipe cleaners, pom-poms, and stickers ready for art projects, but these crafts offer something a bit different.
I wanted to do some projects with the kids that are both fun and useful as gifts for friends and family. Your kids can also exchange these gifts at school or make some for their siblings. Some of these crafts need a bit of adult help, but they’re easy enough for kids of any age to try out.
One of our favorite craft ideas solves two problems at once: we’re recycling paper and doing our bit to help protect bees and other pollinators. These crafts look a bit like candy hearts, minus the sugar and dyes. I used leftover white paper and mixed in some red construction paper to create pink.
Spring is just around the corner, which means it’s almost time to plant flowers. If you’re giving these heart crafts as gifts, include planting instructions and make sure to use flowers that are native to your area.
Valentine’s crafts that use up scrap materials lying around the house are always a win for me. DIY crayons may seem fancy, but they’re surprisingly simple to make. You won’t need any special craft supplies for them.
I have silicone molds that I use for projects like lotion bars and sugar cubes. If you’re planning to use a mold for food items, like gummy vitamins, make sure to keep it separate from your crafting molds.
While this craft might not be as functional as others, adding a homemade Valentine card to a homemade gift is a thoughtful touch. We also love thank you cards in our house. Older kids can get creative with heart collages using tissue paper and stamps.
These are just a few fun Valentine’s Day crafts for kids, but there are many more ideas out there. What activities do your kids enjoy on Valentine’s Day? Do you have any special traditions? Let us know!
