Springtime Home Cleaning Guide: A Natural Approach

Springtime Home Cleaning Guide: A Natural Approach

I’ve often talked about using natural cleaning methods without relying on harsh chemicals. Today, I’m excited to introduce a complete cleaning checklist for the entire house, something I’ve been wanting to do for a while.

It’s not always easy to find the motivation or time for deep cleaning, but with the arrival of spring and warmer weather, many of us feel inspired to start. So, open up the windows, use this checklist, and let’s get rid of all that dirt and dust!

To kick things off, I made a room-by-room cleaning checklist and printed it out. I keep each checklist in a protective binder sheet (just seal the top with tape). This way, I can easily refer to it and check off tasks, which is quite motivating. My kids also use these lists to help clean. If you’d like to do the same, I’ve made a free printable available at the bottom of this post.

Just a heads-up: Vinegar is a great natural and cost-effective cleaner. However, if you’re not a fan of its smell (I admit, I’m not), you can swap it with a ready-made natural cleaner. Right now, I really like Branch Basics. It’s super safe, extremely concentrated to reduce plastic waste, and it works on everything—from bathrooms to glass, walls, and wood floors, even as hand soap and laundry detergent. I’ve listed more products I enjoy in the resources section below.

Now, back to the checklist…

Need more tips for creating a cozy, natural bedroom? You can find them here. Looking for bathroom cleaning tips and specific recipes? I’ve got those covered here. For more detailed kitchen cleaning instructions and recipes, check here.

I’ve also included a free printable sheet on how to naturally treat laundry stains. I hang mine next to the washing machine for easy access.

And here’s a little confession: If you ever wonder how I manage everything—it’s simple, I don’t do it all! It’s all about setting priorities. I usually make my own elderberry syrup, cook most of our meals from scratch, and dive into DIY projects. But I stopped making my own green cleaners a while back. Life has become busier with older kids, a podcast, and a business. Plus, there are so many fantastic natural cleaners available now compared to when I first started blogging. Thankfully, I’ve simplified our belongings and systems and now prefer to use just one natural cleaner concentrate for the entire house.

Here’s a quick list of my preferred natural cleaning products:

Happy spring cleaning! What did I overlook? Do you have your own cleaning checklist? Feel free to share below!
