I don’t usually share a lot of craft posts, even though I enjoy making things with my kids. Most of the time, I stick to creating lotion bars or homemade soap. When winter rolls around and it’s too chilly for outdoor play or walks, I look for fun indoor projects we can do together. Recently, we worked on a really enjoyable project. We also like to make homemade foods and treats during this season, such as crafting marshmallows to give as gifts or baking grain-free biscotti.
This year, I aimed for a natural, crafty, homemade vibe for our Christmas tree. It was surprisingly easy because my kids love making their own ornaments and enjoy displaying their creations. Normally, I wrap the tree with a 3-inch ribbon garland, but that didn’t match my earth-toned, natural theme this year, so I was searching for a budget-friendly alternative.
Lately, I’ve been really into burlap, so I decided to make a burlap garland. If you’re doing this DIY project and have a serger or sewing machine, you can prevent the burlap ribbon’s edges from fraying by serging or zigzag stitching them.
Have you ever tried making something with burlap? How did it turn out?
