Over the years, I’ve written several articles about natural hair care, including recipes for nourishing conditioners and herbal treatments. But I’ve learned that healthy hair really begins with a healthy scalp. This hair growth oil I’ve developed can help nourish the scalp, making it an effective solution for those experiencing hair loss and breakage.
Initially, I designed this recipe for men noticing thinner hair as they age. However, many women are also on the hunt for products that boost hair health. Factors like over-styling, tight hairstyles (such as braids), heat tools, thyroid issues, androgenetic alopecia, and pregnancy can all trigger hair loss.
In fact, more than half of women will encounter hair loss at some stage in their lives. You might not have thinning hair but could still be aiming to grow your hair longer.
After my pregnancy, I started exploring natural ways to stimulate hair regrowth for myself. I realized that this hair growth oil is equally beneficial for men wanting to prevent hair loss. If you’re noticing less hair than before, the good news is there are natural ways to help with that.
As with anything, a healthy diet lays the foundation for healthy hair. Nutrients like biotin and collagen are key for keeping hair strong and healthy. Experts suggest focusing on getting enough B vitamins, vitamin C (for collagen production), Omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamins D and A.
If you’re low on iron, it might affect your hair too since iron is crucial for good blood flow to the hair follicles. I aim to get most nutrients from whole foods, but supplements can help bridge any gaps. Adequate nutrition can reduce hair breakage, receding hairlines, and split ends as well.
Staying hydrated and getting enough minerals is crucial, too. If you notice your hair or scalp feeling dry, it might be time to drink more water. You can check out my recipe for a hydrating mineral drink for more details.
If your hair needs some extra tender loving care, using a natural scalp treatment can be beneficial. There are various natural oils that promote hair growth, such as almond oil, argan oil, coconut oil, and jojoba oil. For those dealing with alopecia, vitamin E can help minimize oxidative damage and encourage hair growth.
While there are many options, in my recipe, I didn’t specifically include tea tree and peppermint oils, although they’re beneficial as well. You can add a few drops of tea tree oil to tackle dandruff, a greasy scalp, or fungal problems. Peppermint oil can help by stimulating the scalp and boosting blood flow, which aids hair growth.
Cayenne is another ingredient known to improve circulation and has been used as a folk remedy for hair loss and sore muscles. You can easily include it in your hair growth oil by making an infusion with a few simple ingredients.
