You might have seen my video on using charcoal for teeth whitening, but did you know it’s also great for your skin? This charcoal face mask is simple and quick to make with just a few everyday ingredients. It’s a great way to clear up your skin, detoxify, and make it softer—all with a DIY approach.
You can whip up a beauty treatment at home that competes with pricey natural beauty brands by using just a few basic ingredients:
Bentonite clay, which comes from aged volcanic ash, helps attract and remove toxins from your skin. It’s an excellent addition to a cleansing face mask because it removes impurities when mixed with water. Since it can be a bit drying alone, I’ve added raw honey to the mix.
Raw honey is something I really love. Not only does it naturally sweeten desserts and soothe burns, but it also has antibacterial properties. In a face mask, it helps soften and soothe the skin, while also being great for those dealing with acne or blemishes.
Now, let’s talk about the star ingredient: charcoal. Known for its ability to absorb toxins, charcoal is often used in medical settings during cases of poisoning. When applied to your skin, it helps absorb impurities and toxins.
Adding essential oils can boost your DIY skincare recipes by offering extra benefits. This particular recipe includes tea tree and lavender essential oils, known for their skin-purifying abilities. Tea tree oil is often used for acne due to its antimicrobial properties, and lavender is well-known for supporting skin health. Even though this mask only contains half a drop of each essential oil, it’s still effective.
You can use items from your natural medicine cabinet to create a gentle yet detoxifying face mask that’s suitable for most skin types.
Note: This mask is intended for single use and doesn’t store well without preservatives.
