Insect-Repelling Lotion Bars

Insect-Repelling Lotion Bars

Ever since I figured out how to make my original lotion bars, I’ve been playing around with different types, like sunscreen bars and Vapo-Rub bars. My current favorite is the bug repellent lotion bars! They are just as easy to make as the original ones and seem even more effective than typical homemade bug spray, likely because they create a protective layer on the skin. They’re also convenient to carry around, and the kids can apply them by themselves.

Unlike conventional bug sprays loaded with chemicals and toxins, this recipe actually nourishes and moisturizes your skin while keeping bugs at bay. For setting the bars, I use silicone molds. I used these molds, but I also adore sunflower and heart molds, which are perfect for gifts. There are also simple flower and bar-shaped molds available.

If you love lotion bars but lack the time or ingredients to make them yourself, I recommend a wonderful small business called Made On. They offer a variety of lotion bars, soaps, natural baby products, and hair products that meet my standards. They also provide a 15% discount for Wellness Mama readers using the code “wellnessmama” at checkout. How do you keep the bugs away? Feel free to share your thoughts below!
